How to compress

Three quick steps. No account, no upload, no waiting around.

1

Drop JPG, PNG or WebP images into the upload area, choose them from your device, or paste them from your clipboard.

2

Set the maximum size, decide whether dimensions can shrink, and pick the background color for transparent areas.

3

Check the before and after sizes, then download each JPG or use Download all.

About this tool

Upload forms, job portals and email clients often reject images over a fixed size, such as 100 KB or 50 KB. This tool shrinks your photo to fit the limit you choose, so you don't have to guess at quality settings and export again and again.

How it works
Your image is drawn on a canvas, flattened onto your background color and saved as a JPG. The tool searches for the highest quality that still fits your limit. No server is involved.
Choosing a size limit
Pick a preset or type any value from 10 to 10,000 KB. Sizes are real bytes (1 KB is 1,000 bytes), so a result marked under your limit really is.
Reduce or keep dimensions
By default quality drops first, then the image scales down only if it must. Choose Keep dimensions when a form also needs a minimum pixel size.
Batch compression
Add up to 20 images or paste them. Changing the limit, strategy or background compresses every file again, and Download all saves the batch.

When to use it

Compress when a site or inbox won't take your file as it is.

Application and exam forms

Government, visa, exam and job portals often reject photos over 100 KB or 50 KB.

ID and profile photos

Choose Keep dimensions when a form also requires a minimum size such as 600 × 600.

Listings and email

Fit several photos under strict per-file limits in one batch and download them together.

Support tickets and CMS uploads

Get screenshots and attachments under the size cap without opening an image editor.

Speeding up web pages

Trim heavy photos and banners to a target size so pages load faster on slow connections.

Documents and decks

Keep Word files, PDFs and slide decks small by embedding compressed JPGs.

Questions people ask

Quick answers about size limits, quality and privacy.

Is this image compressor free?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and you can compress as many batches as you like.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Each image is compressed in your browser, so your files never leave your device.

How do I compress an image to 100 KB or 50 KB?

Add your image, pick the 100 KB or 50 KB preset or type your own limit. The tool adjusts quality and, if needed, dimensions until the file fits, then shows the before and after size.

Will compression change the pixel dimensions?

Only if you allow it. With Also reduce dimensions, quality drops first and the image scales down only when that is not enough. With Keep dimensions, the pixel size never changes.

What does "Closest possible" mean?

The image could not reach your limit with the current settings. This can happen with Keep dimensions and a very small limit. Switch to Also reduce dimensions or raise the limit slightly.

What format is the output?

Every result is a JPG. The tool accepts JPG, PNG and WebP. Transparent areas are filled with your background color. Animated images are not supported.

How many images can I compress at once?

Up to 20 images per batch, 25 MB each. Changing the limit, strategy or background compresses every file again. Smaller batches work best on mobile.
